When was your Band formed?

We started in the summer of 97

Members: (names, age, instrument, influences and favorite bands)

We all listen to a wide range of music so its really hard to say. The band as a whole I guess I would say our influence is green day. Me personally right now I would say I’m influenced a lot by Britney Spears. We all listen to punk, hard-core, some ska, rock and roll, pop, and 80’s hair bands. That’s a really hard question to answer correct.

 How did you guys meet?

Well I'm going to give you the short version. Jordan and me (Ian) were in a band together. The band broke up. We asked Steve to join and play guitar. Jordan and Steve were in a band together before Jordan joined my band, so that's how we knew him. He said yes. Then we heard a rumor that Chad (who was singing for shai hulud at the time) wanted to start a punk band. I had met Chad because I knew his older brother from little league baseball and middle school. Steve and Jordan knew him because they were into hard-core and knew Shai Hulud. We asked Chad to join and he did. Then we got Joe to play drums who was later replaced by Cyrus and that’s how we met.

What bands have you played with in the past?

So many but here is some of them...Snapcase, Ensign, Grade, Midtown, RX Bandits, Saves the Day, Piebald, Hot Rod Circuit, Reel Big Fish, Unwritten Law, Shades Apart, MxPx, The Hippos, we played a Warped Tour show and Fenix TX, Blink 182, Eminem. The list goes on and on. Sorry for the others bands I failed to mention.

Do you remember your first show? If so, how was it?

Yes. It was at cheers in Miami, fl. we were pretty bad to be honest with you. I remember us being really out of tune. I was so excited to play cheers because that’s where all the cool punk bands were playing at the time. It has closed down since then, but it was an awesome club. I don't know if you heard of it but there is a video called release. It’s a video on the hard-core/punk scene. A lot of those shows were at Cheers.

I love your new CD. " From the screen to your stereo"... with the cover songs on it...you guys rock at doing that...What made you decide to do that type of CD?

Well we were playing the Celine Dion and the Aerosmith songs at our shows. At the time they were all over the radio. We love movies so we did it for fun. It was cool because when people came to our shows and never heard of us they could at least sing along with one song. Every show people would ask what CD the cover songs were on. That gave us the idea. We each picked one more song that we wanted to do and that’s how we got 7.

Was it a coincidence that the song from "Goonies" was on there and then you had Corey Feldman in your Video?

No. I was the one who picked the "Goonies" song because I remembered it from when I was little. I love the way Cyndi Lauper sings that song. It’s a hard song to find because it wasn't on any of her records. It was on the "Goonies" soundtrack, and I think her new greatest hits. I had to look all over the Internet to find the lyrics and the song. We tried to learn it off the "Goonies" movie but it was missing part of the song. As for Corey Feldman he is a good friend of our label. We asked Richard and Stefanie (the owners of Drive Thru Records) to ask Corey if he would be in our video and he said yes. I laugh everytime I see the video because I can't believe he is in it. I love that guy. We had gone bowling with Corey a couple of times before that so he knew us. It’s really cool. If you want to see the video you can go to launch.com or blanktv.com

Your video for "Hit and Miss" is great...I love it...it is cute and funny...How did you get the idea for it?

It’s just a take off of the TV show cops. We did some live clips at a skate street. Its a skate park in Ventura, ca. then we did the Corey clips near Los Angeles. We figured if we all got arrested and Corey beat everyone up it would be funny. People think Steve is selling drugs and it’s really pokemon cards. It just seemed funny at the time. I like the way it came out.

Are you guys working on any new videos?

Right now we are not working on any new videos, but I’m sure we will do one for the next record.

Or anything else new for that matter?

We are at home in sunny Coral Springs, Florida getting ready to record our next full length. We start some time in May and we record part of June too. We have no release date yet but we hope to get it out by the end of the year. Then we are going to tour starting July.

What are you favorite " NFG" songs?

I guess I would say "2's and 3's" is my favorite off "Nothing Gold can stay" and my favorite song off "From the Screen to Your Stereo" is the "Goonies 'r' good enough". I am totally in love with some of our new songs too, so I can't wait for the next record to come out.

Have you been seen on any compilations etc.?

I think our video is going to be on a Drive Thru Records home video. I think its going to have videos from Midtown, RX Bandits, Allister, us, plus some others. I’m not really sure when it’s coming out though.

Is your recent CD..."Nothing gold can stay" your first?

Actually it’s not. We have 3 CDs out so far. "It's All About The Girls" EP 5 songs (Fiddler Records) it has our old drummer on it. Please lower your standards a bit before checking this one out.

"Nothing Gold can stay" 12 songs (Drive Thru Records)

"From The Screen To Your Stereo" 7 cover songs (Drive Thru Records)

Have you recently been on tour? If so where?

We did a 7-week tour of the U.S. with Rx Bandits (from CA) and Midtown (NJ). Then we did a week with Snapcase, Ensign, Grade, and Bigwig played some dates too, which was on the East Coast.

So, how is the Florida scene? For local music in particular...?

Florida is really cool. Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Matchbox 20, Creed, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, as for the bands that are popular in coral springs I would say super transatlantic. That’s all I can really think of. Oh yeah "Non point" is on MCA too.

What are some of your best memories coming from the band?

Everyday is a great memory. Just getting to do this is awesome. I love the four guys in my band like I love my brothers. We got a play an amphitheater stage at Warped Tour. I don't think it can get any more insane than that.

Some of your worst?

Getting called a sell out, when we are broke.

When were you signed to your record label? Drive Thru Records?

Well Gabe the bass player/singer from midtown played our CD for the label. We have him to thank for getting us signed. Our CD "Nothing Gold Can Stay" was released Nov 2nd 1999. I guess we got signed sometime before then.

Has being on the label helped out your band a lot? More?

It has helped us so much. Richard and Stefanie are 2 of the coolest people I know. We love them. I don't think words can say how much Drive Thru has helped us.

Where did you guys come up with your name? What meaning does it have?

Jordan and Steve came up with the name while working at the red lobster. It was a mixture of a couple of names...I think.

What myths about being in a band are there?

You make a lot of money

You get a lot of girls

Touring is all fun and no work

Nobody ever tells you about the 12-hour drive through the night. Its just plain awesome to be able to be in a band and not work a real job. I used to have to make people's bagel sandwiches for a living...not anymore. I would rather not work and not have a lot of money.

Do you have a message for future rock-stars or Punk-stars?

Well I don't really consider myself a rock star or a punk star for that matter, but my message would be find me and make me one.

Do you have any other comments about anything?

Yes. To all the people that supports us. We love you and we appreciate everything you do for us. Without you we are nothing. Also Britney Spears if you are reading this you are my everything. Also check out...the site this interview is on...
